The World Wrestling Entertainment has plans to produce 9 movies back to back through the year 2012 and the third in series will go on floor shortly. The first two, Knucklehead and Legendary are complete and will release this year. The media is talking about the third movie “The Big Red”, production of which will start shortly and the movie will be set in and around New Orleans.
The film is set in 1960s and features WWE star Randy Orton, Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Chase Ellison, Daniel Roebuck and Mia Rose Frampton. The movie is about a 12 year old boy who has been paired up with the school’s biggest outcast on a project by his teacher (Ed Harris). The outcast is the “Big Red” though his screen name is Stanley. When Andy(the 12 year old boy) watches Stanley take on a school bully, a series of events happen which changes the lives of the school teacher as well as both the boys.
The film is a family entertainment drama. As is evident from the cast, there is a mix of WWE stars and the movie stars in the movie. This is because of a policy which is being pursued by WWE that the movies produced by it won’t be dependent on the WWE stars alone but would feature a good number of talented actors and actresses. The film will be directed by the executive president of WWE Studio, Mike Pavone and produced in partnership with Denise Chamian.
